One who is interested in media. All kinds of media. (He aspires to be a media polymath.) But most of his professional career has been in motion pictures, specifically audio for the moving image. Why? Because he’s fascinated by the alchemy of what happens when sounds combine with visuals, when the sound conveys one message and the visual another, and a whole new meaning can be born at their intersection. 1 + 1 = 3. That third thing, the Tertium Quid, that was the holy grail he was looking for.
So I guess that’s one part of me.
The word however, is that we no longer live in a world that values such specialization. There’s an app for that, or so thats the lip service I hear. Just as well. I am interested in media in other, complementary forms and for sometime now I have been studying the Web and its mysteries. I even took the path of formal education and earned a AAT in Web Development from Clark College. Where has that taken me? Well, here for one, this website, but I experimented with others along the way.
- “JR’s Hobbyshop” a faux website that grew out of my WordPress course and incorporates my interest in scale modeling.
- As part of my Writing for the Web course I also turned to my interest in scale modeling to produce a short personal, blog about the subject.
- My interest in Audio Post Production? Some of that may be seen here.
- I volunteer as Web Admin for my spiritual faiths local institution. (It’s a SquareSpace site that I inherited. Don’t tell WordPress!)
- I also have a background in photography..
Web is like a form of mixed media to me. There is text but there is also image, especially the moving image.
And art work too.
